Mortimer Quarries has developed over 50 years, from a small gravel pit with one truck, to one of the most recognised names in the sand and gravel, limestone and quarrying industry in Ireland today. The company, set up by Frank Mortimer in the early 1960's as predominately a Sand and Gravel business, supplied local contracts with drainage shingle and washed sand. To deal with increasing customer demand, Frank enrolled several of his brothers, and later his sons, which led to the purchase of his first hardrock quarry in the 1980s. This high purity Fully Authorised limestone quarry at Belclare, Tuam, County Galway is the operational headquarters of Mortimer Quarries today.

Today Mortimer Quarries operates an extensive quarrying business with several sand and gravel pits and a modern hardrock quarry at Belclare. All locations are serviced by a large fleet of delivery trucks and machinery. Mortimer Quarries now produce a full range of products including, Natural Guillotine Cut Building Stone, Armour Rock, Agricultural Ground Limestone under the trade name GROLIME, Tarmacadam and Asphalt and a full range of Aggregates and Stonefill in Belclare. Mortimer Quarries also have a Construction and Demolition Facility for acceptance of certain types of construction waste. The company is still very much a family run company today.
